Overview
A cylindrical body with two hinged, toothed wings. The bit is lowered closed at body diameter D, then the wings open to cut out the enlarged section shown as D1 in the drawing.
The catalogue lists this design for coal-mine ventilation shafts. Its table gives body diameter D, diameter D1 and opened height H1 for each size, from KD600 (560 / 1200 / 1200 mm) to KD2000 (1960 / 4000 / 3800 mm).
